Monster Factory

One Insert. Filthy to Pristine.

Monster Factory is a complete signal chain in a single plug-in – designed so you can drop it on a vocal, a guitar, a drum bus, or an 808 and have everything you need to take it from raw to finished without leaving the insert. The same chain that makes a metal vocal aggressive and saturated makes a pop hook warm and expensive. The knobs determine which version you get.

The Front End

A gate with an Amount control closes in the silences without needing a threshold dial. A high-pass filter from 40 to 400 Hz removes low-end buildup before the compressor sees the signal – which means the compressor responds to the material instead of pumping on a thump. The compressor follows with threshold, attack from 1ms to 100ms, and a hard/soft knee switch.

The Character Engine

Grind is a parallel saturation stage with four modes. TAPE runs even-harmonic warmth that adds weight to clean material. TUBE adds asymmetric odd-harmonic edge – presence and bite without harshness. AMP opens up under drive and gets aggressive, the right call for heavy guitars and hip hop tracks that need attitude. BROKEN pushes past the design limits into complex harmonics and deliberate grit. A Tone knob tilts the saturation path dark or bright before the blend, and the Saturation knob mixes the parallel Grind signal against the dry.

Thickness and Space

The Schtack doubler adds a second version of the signal with Humanize applying micro-variation to timing and pitch so it sounds like a real second take. Widen spreads it across the field. The Schlapp slapback delay runs 60-180ms – not rhythmic echo, just the physical sense of a room behind the source.

Reverb and Final Limiter

Three room sizes (S, M, L) with Amount and a Duck control that pulls the reverb back when the source is present and lets it bloom in the gaps. A final output trim and brickwall limiter with a ceiling from -0.3 to -1.0 dBFS bring the chain to a close.
