Cracked versions of our plugins appear on piracy sites from time to time. We are aware of them and we deal with them. This page is for anyone who has downloaded – or is considering downloading – an unofficial copy of Speaker Breaker, Velvet Crush, Alternate Timeline, Magic Buss, The Mad Scientist, or The Black Clamp.

The free demo is real.

Every paid plugin we ship includes a fully functional demo mode. Same DSP. Same interface. No account required. The demo silences briefly every 30 seconds – that is the only limitation. If you want to hear what the plugin sounds like on your session before spending a dollar, that is exactly what the demo is for.

There is no reason to download from a third-party site.

Warez sites are documented malware distribution vectors.

This is not a claim specific to our software – it is a well-documented pattern across the security industry. Independent researchers at firms including Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, and ESET have published repeated findings showing that piracy sites distribute software bundled with trojans, keyloggers, cryptominers, and ransomware. The infected file often functions exactly as expected – the plugin loads, the DAW runs, and nothing looks wrong. The payload runs in the background.

We have no visibility into what any specific third-party distributor does to files before redistributing them. We cannot tell you whether a particular cracked copy has been tampered with. What we can tell you is what years of independent security research says: the risk is real, documented, and consistent.

Putting an unvetted binary into a DAW that has access to your audio interface, your file system, and potentially your network is a meaningful attack surface. That calculation is yours to make.

Every activation token is cryptographically traced to its source.

This is the part that is specific to our software.

Every licensed M Media Audio plugin generates a cryptographic token at activation that binds the original purchaser’s email address and machine identifier together. That token is verified every time the plugin loads.

When a licensed copy ends up distributed as a crack, the activation token travels with it. The token is not hidden – it is a data record. We can read it. It contains the original buyer’s email address and machine fingerprint.

We have already recovered source account information from distributed copies of our software. Those accounts have been suspended. Where applicable law permits, identifying information is reported to relevant parties.

If you downloaded a cracked copy and activated it, you activated it with someone else’s credentials. That activation is logged. The token is traceable.

If your license was compromised without your knowledge.

It happens. A legitimate buyer’s key can end up in circulation through no fault of their own – through malware on their machine, a compromised cloud backup, or other means. If you hold a legitimate license and you believe your activation data has been distributed without your consent, contact us. We will investigate and reissue.

The short version.

Cracked copies of M Media Audio plugins are cryptographically traceable to their source account. Piracy sites are documented malware distribution vectors – independent security research on this goes back years and is not in dispute. The free demo exists precisely so you do not have to take that risk.

Try the demo. Buy the license. If something is wrong with a legitimate purchase, we will fix it.
