Vinyl Transfer & Archive Digitization

Your records, preserved properly.

The right way to digitize a record

There is a significant difference between a $100 USB turntable feeding into a laptop and a proper playback system feeding into a professional analog-to-digital conversion chain. The first produces a file. The second produces an archival master.

Our transfer chain runs through a calibrated turntable, proper RIAA equalization, and 24-bit RME conversion - the same conversion we use for mastering sessions. The result captures everything in the groove at the highest fidelity the source can deliver.

We have personally handled thousands of records through SRO Records - we know vinyl condition, pressing quality, and what a good transfer sounds like across a wide range of pressings and eras. If a record needs cleaning before transfer, we handle that too.

What we transfer

  • 12" LPs and 12" singles
  • 7" 45 RPM singles
  • 10" records
  • Private press and demo recordings
  • Promotional and acetate reference discs (case by case)
  • 78 RPM shellac (limited - contact us first)

How to send your records

Ship records with inner sleeve plus outer sleeve protection - no stacking bare against bare. Include a list of what you are sending and what you want from each record. If condition is a concern, note it. We will assess and contact you before proceeding on anything that needs additional attention.

For family archives and private recordings, we treat everything with the understanding that it may be irreplaceable. We do not rush this work and we do not return anything in worse condition than we received it.

Local clients in Austin can drop off by arrangement. Out-of-area clients ship to us, we do the work, and we return records and deliver files digitally or on a drive.

Common use cases

  • Family recordings - home pressings, private masters
  • Collection preservation and digital backup
  • Legacy band recordings before the master degrades further
  • Music library digitization for licensing or re-release
  • Rare and out-of-print records for research or archiving
  • Estate collections being organized or donated

Preserve it before it degrades further.

Vinyl does not last forever. Contact us with what you have and we will put together a plan.
