Studio 351 is a dual-channel preamp voiced for Class A tape-machine-preamp weight - fuller, rounder, more heft than a brighter tube circuit. Every channel runs input gain into an asymmetric tube saturation stage tuned for that character, a level-dependent VCA stage, a fixed low-mid weight shelf that's always on and never a knob you have to think about, and independently sweepable Bass and Treble EQ. A three-position Character EQ, styled after real tape speed and equalization curves - 7.5 NAB, 15 NAB, 15 AME - shapes the top end before a fixed makeup stage brings the output back up.
It's built to sound audibly better than a bypassed track at the default Straight Tape setting, before you touch a single knob - the saturation, the low-mid weight, and the makeup gain do that work on their own. Two fully independent channels, Link or Dual operation, Mono/Dual/Stereo output modes, and the same real VU ballistics you'd expect from a Class A tube meter.

Two Independent Channels
Channel A and Channel B each get their own full control set - Input, Bass, Treble, Output - so Studio 351 works as a stereo bus preamp or as two completely independent mono channels. Link ties both channels to Channel A's controls for standard stereo operation. Unlink breaks that connection entirely: drive one channel harder than the other, correct an asymmetric source, or run two unrelated mono sources through one plugin instance.
Mono/Dual/Stereo switching controls how the output sums, and an Input/Output toggle chooses what the VU meters are actually showing you at any given moment.
Character EQ
The Character EQ knob is labeled the way a real tape machine's speed and equalization selector would be - 7.5 NAB, 15 NAB, and 15 AME - a nod to the actual tape speed and EQ curve standards that shaped decades of recordings. Each position is a distinct fixed curve applied after the Bass and Treble bands, giving the top end a different character without adding another knob you have to ride.
Underneath it, a fixed low-mid weight shelf is always active - not user-controlled, always contributing to the fuller Class A character Studio 351 is voiced for.
