Smooth, Not a Full De-Esser
Smooth is a gentle dynamic dip on harsh high-frequency peaks - not a sibilance-targeting de-esser with its own frequency and range controls, just one knob that ducks the harshness when it shows up. The compressor ahead of it runs a faster attack with the sidechain high-passed at 150 Hz to even the performance out.
Silky, Not Brittle
Air runs a high shelf at 12kHz, but only the boosted top-end content passes through a gentle saturation stage before mixing back in - so pushing it adds silky air instead of brightening and hardening the whole vocal. Built to keep the lead or backing vocal out front without fighting the mix for it.
