Two Engines, Not One
Tape (Engine I) is the classic positive flange - an exponential sweep that glides evenly through the octaves with no stall at the ends. Through-Zero (Engine II) sweeps a delay that actually crosses zero, so the comb filter fully collapses and reappears, the effect real jet-plane flanging is named for. I+II runs them in series: the two combs multiply into a dense crossing lattice, the thickest setting in the catalog.
The Mad Scientist Moment
A Lissajous trace of the stereo signal draws right on the panel, with a short phosphor decay so the trace glows rather than vanishing frame to frame. Every time the Through-Zero engine's delay crosses center, watch the trace twist and collapse in real time - the sweep made visible, not just audible.
